Also, Microsoft has discontinued Forefront and using the basic spam filtering in Exchange would cost us a re-purchase of Exchange Enterprise. I've used McAfee's MX Logic with good success in the past, but I see McAfee has now given up on it and has instead recommended people use Proofpoint.
Like most others, e-mail has become critical to our business. Our contract is up soon, so we have to make a decision, and it has to be good. The service performance has overall been fairly poor.
Our SMB is now challenged with replacing our hosted spam filter service that's based on Barracuda's spam firewall. Needless to say, there are loads of possible solutions out there, each one claiming its the best. I see this has been a generally well-documented topic here on SpiceWorks in the past, but as with all of IT - things change.
